Distance to our house approx. 10 kilometres - journey time by car approx. 15 minutes. Travelling time by bike via Pinswang - Fürstensteig directly to the castles approx. 1 hour. Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most famous and photogenic castles in the world, located in Bavaria, Germany, near the town of Füssen and above the valley of the Pöllat Gorge. Built in the second half of the 19th century at the behest of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, it served as a personal retreat for the king and as a tribute to Richard Wagner, whose operas Ludwig adored. Neuschwanstein is a prime example of the romantic historicism of the time and combines elements of medieval castles with the neo-Romanesque style.

Distance to our house approx. 20 kilometres - travel time by car approx. 35 minutes. Linderhof Castle is the smallest of the three castles built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and the only one completed during his lifetime. It is located near Ettal in the Bavarian Alps, Germany. This magnificent palace, which was built between 1874 and 1878 in the neo-Rococo style, served Ludwig as a private retreat.

Linderhof Castle

Distance to our house approx. 4 kilometres. The Ehrenberg ruins are a historic fortress in Tyrol, Austria, near the town of Reutte. This imposing ruin, built in the 13th century, was once part of an important defence system and played a strategic role in controlling the trade routes between Tyrol and the Allgäu for centuries. The complex consists of several parts: the main Ehrenberg castle, the Schlosskopf fortress, the Claudia fortress and Fort Claudia.

Ettal Abbey is an important Benedictine abbey located in the village of Ettal in Bavaria, Germany, close to the famous castles of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. It was founded in 1330 by Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian and is known both for its impressive baroque church and its long history of education and spirituality. The monastery is picturesquely situated at the foot of the Bavarian Alps and attracts visitors with its breathtaking architecture, spiritual atmosphere and cultural offerings.

The Ehrwalder Zugspitzbahn is a cable car that starts in Ehrwald, a picturesque village in Tyrol, Austria, and leads up to the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain. This cable car offers one of the most spectacular ways to experience the impressive mountain world of the Alps. The pilgrimage church of the Scourged Saviour on the Wies, often simply referred to as the Wieskirche, is one of the most famous rococo churches in the world. It is located in Steingaden in the Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau in Germany. The church was built in the middle of the 18th century, more precisely between 1745 and 1754, after tears were reported on an image of the scourged Christ, which attracted pilgrims. The master builder Dominikus Zimmermann designed this extraordinary church, which is considered the pinnacle of his work.
